Clio - The Muse of History
This applies to history in two ways one is that history happened in the past, and in this photo she's mimicking childhood (notice the young girl outfit and the lunch box) something in the past, another is that the outfit is not a very modern young girl look, rather a young girl look akin to that of something like little red ridding hood, again in the past

Calliope - The Muse of Epic Poetry
I think this photo of Maisie fits the essense of Calliope as well as some visual connections. Maisie is in an environment which connects her to Calliope's typical symbolic items she would be seen with, one of those items being a book or roll of paper resembling history. Maisie is in a library, todays symbolic place of where history is accessed and contained.
Also Maisie is modelling the soft strong confidence of Calliope, she is presenting herself as a chief and knowledge center of her fellow muses.

Thalia - The Muse of Comedy
High fashion comedy clown realness. Thalia is always depicted holding a comedy mask, which is represented by the weird quirky thing she's doing with her fingers.

Melpomene - The Muse of Tragedy
I liked this picture because I think it evokes a lot of different aspects of tragedy. Firstly, Melpomene is traditionally depicted as carrying a tragic mask with her, which I thought was evoked quite nicely with the skull in this photo. As a bonus, the pose with the skull doubles as a shout-out to Hamlet, one of the most famous tragic plays in the whole of human history. Melpomene is also often depicted as wearing vines, as a reference to the god Dionysus, with whom she's closely associated. The forest itself is kind of gloomy and tragic, with a very deadly vibe to it. All in all, I thought it was a great fit. Hope you like it!

Terpsichore - The Muse of Dance
Hello, lovely judges! For this photo, I wanted to convey dance through a photo that had both elegance and a sense of movement. That was pretty hard to accomplish, but I think that Fei Fei's poise and grace really shine through in this photo through the pose and the posture; at the same time, there's a sense of movement and harmony through the colors in the image. They're subtle, but the background is a wash of different hues. There's a very distinct shimmer to the outfit which really captures the way the light moves, and all of this colorful transition gives the photo a real sense of motion and movement.

Euterpe - The Muse of Music
I prefer to choose more unconventional pictures for photo challenges like these, but this picture was just too gorgeous to not submit. THAT FACE.
Tier 1:
Polyhymnia - The Muse of Sacred Poetry
Her name name comes from the Greek words "poly" meaning "many" and "hymnos", which means "praise".[1] She is depicted as very serious, pensive and meditative, and often holding a finger to her mouth, dressed in a long cloak and veil and resting her elbow on a pillar.

Janice: Gorgeous picture, but I'm not buying the connection to the muse. When it comes to the things Clio is known for, or even historical artefacts in the picture. I mean, children exist today... And so do adults that dress like children, but I don't think they're being inspired by a muse.
Rarity: I'm not sure how far back into history this would go, darling, considering how short your model's dress is. There was a degree of modesty in the past. I appreciate the effort, though. The overall style of your outfit and the scenery do present some historical aspects.
Emma: Cute picture. Great styling and modeling but doesn't really fit the theme
Utada: Love the outfit and you have some strong modeling. I have to agree that theme connection isn't as strong as it could be.

Calliope - The Muse of Epic Poetry
- Calliope is the muse who presides over eloquence and epic poetry; so called from the ecstatic harmony of her voice. She is spoken of by Ovid as the "Chief of all Muses."
- Calliope is usually seen with a writing tablet in her hand. At times, she is depicted carrying a roll of paper or a book or wearing a gold crown.
I think this photo of Maisie fits the essense of Calliope as well as some visual connections. Maisie is in an environment which connects her to Calliope's typical symbolic items she would be seen with, one of those items being a book or roll of paper resembling history. Janice: Fashion sense off the bat is impeccable, but the theme connection is hanging on your explanation of being in a library, however, is it enough? Perhaps some more epic imagery or a story she was associated with make have been better to connect the theme. Also, is it just me or is the image a bit grainy?
Rarity: I honestly love this, darling. Maisie is the epitome of class and elegance, a far cry from her usual boyish attire in Game of Thrones. The library does indeed help. The image may have a slight quality issue, but it's subtle enough to look past. Well done!
Emma: I like this a lot. I also appreciate you stating your muse aND a description of the muse before your description. I hate having to go back and forth on my phone to see whom everyone chose. I love the styling and the profile shot.
Utada: The dress is wonderful; definitely different. I can see the connection to the theme as well. I would like more of the library, but thats just nitpicking. The quality is a bit off, as Rarity pointed out, but I still feel like this is a successful week for you.

Thalia - The Muse of Comedy
High fashion comedy clown realness. Thalia is always depicted holding a comedy mask, which is represented by the weird quirky thing she's doing with her fingers.
Janice: Outrageous, however, there's a disconnect between the outrageous colours and make up, but your expression is solemn, which makes me feel like she is the muse of tragedy with her mask.
Rarity: Honestly, darling, I think this is great. I'm not seeing solemn so much as confused in the expression, and comedy runs on confusion and laughter. I like where you went with this darling. Good work.
Emma: I didn't like this until I saw who you chose. I find this to be funny but your expression is sorely lacking
Utada: I feel like this is going to be one of the photos I remember from the competition. While you did a good job selling the photo, I do think the expression is the one thing off here. I love it for the photo, but not for the theme. Still, I feel like you really hit several of the categories we score on, so great work.

Janice: I saw the connection to Hamlet immediately, and I'm sure we're aware of the fact it's a very tragic play. I think you're very strong this round.
Rarity: Add a skull to anything, darling, and you'll have a tragedy. Unless it's the Lion King. Or especially because it is the Lion King. But I digress. I certainly see tragedy and the photo is impeccable, dear.
Emma: Very good job. I'm not fond of the expression but I like this a lot.
Utada: Yeah, the skull definitely invokes Hamlet, so its easy to see the theme. I love the art style and quality. Overall just a beautiful pic.

Janice: I get the connection to the muse immediately, the movement is gorgeous, so is the dress, the arms are a little but awkward and so is the face. It doesn't look like she's committed to the movements.
Rarity: I see a model starting to swing her hips and wave her arms in a seductive trance of a dance. I'm loving it, dear. I also love who the dress seemingly has so many different colors from one movement because of the way the light hits it.
Emma: Your body looks awkward. Especially the left arm and the right side of body from hip all the way down to foot. The only thing working is the flow of your gown. I hope this isn't your downfall. Asian models are usually fantastic but this is not good at all.
Utada: Not a big fan of your face here. The movement does invoke a sense of dance, so at least you have the theme connection down. It just doesn't really excite me.

Janice: I think you got Eros and Erato a bit confused. Another way to think of Erato is the muse of love songs. Yes, she does represent erotic poetry and is often depicted with Eros, but I think something a bit classier would have been better. Also, the speech bubbles? They seem to hate each other, rather than love each other.
Rarity: Love Poetry, Erotica, same thing, really, darling. I definitely know what you're going for and I think it works, I'm not entirely happy with the speech bubbles, though. The rest of the photo works because I'm seeing romance and love.
Emma: I love the colouring but really hope you can give us less sexy if you survive to use him again
Utada: The speech bubbles definitely detract from the photo. I think you could sell a stronger connection to the theme without them. Its a pretty shot otherwise. Theres some good posing, but I have to think about what I'd score fashion content off of in a shot like that.

Euterpe - The Muse of Music
I prefer to choose more unconventional pictures for photo challenges like these, but this picture was just too gorgeous to not submit. THAT FACE.
Janice: I appreciate the theme connection with the piano however you look more bored than inspired, or inspirational. The face is very pretty though.
Rarity: I have to agree with Janice. The piano is a nice, if obvious, touch for theme connection. I'm not feeling all that inspired, though, and it does have a lot to do with your body language and expression.
Emma: I don't see bored because there's a twinkle in your eye. Yet again....one of the best photos of the round.
Utada: While I tend to appreciate more interpretive shots more, I can accept an obvious shot from time to time. This shots beautiful. Definitely one of the strongest this round.

Janice: I think a little bit of cropping would have made this better. She does look serious, pensive and meditative, and I understand the imagery of the cloak and elbow on the pillar, but there are some areas that just aren't there.
Rarity: The quality is a little off, but I appreciate how well you tried to match up with your chosen muse. I feel like you did a wonderful job and the setting gives your muse a more modern look. Good work.
Emma: She looks like she's smiling. Not really a pensive look imo. Plus the quality is not great. Also not going to lie......I feel like I wasted my time last round by you pulling out your other team to have this team back. I expected super amazing.
Utada: Theres a slight quality issue and the cropping would have helped cause the letters are distracting. I do appreciate that you had less tangible qualities to connect to your muse and still did a good job making the connection. You have nice posing and solid fashion. Definitely a step up from your last round.
I'm not thrilled about you being able to drop one team for another, but I won't hold it against you since the host allowed it.

Urania - The Muse of Astronomy
Janice: This is a stunning picture, but I think it's lacking on the theme connection part. If you have a photo editing program, you could have subtly put a filter over it. Sometimes if it doesn't fit, just use a little bit of "lube". Also, there's a little bit of an issue with quality here.
WNN: I actually did a bit of editing to make it work a bit better and enhance the moon elements. I guess I didn't go far enough, haha.
Rarity: I'm surprised you went with Urania if you had so few connectable photos to use for her. That being said. The spotlight coming off as the moon surrounding you is about all I'm getting. Your fashion and modelling are strong, but theme connection is a little off.
Emma: Sexy and pretty good imo. Nice job.
Utada: Its not the strongest in terms of theme connection. However, it works in other areas like fashion and posing. I'm a bit torn over the performance this week.
