Hello teams! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! We're down to our top 7, which will become our top 6 after this panel. The team eliminated from this panel will become the first member of our jury that will help determine the winner. Let's begin!
Balding Brutes:
Aang:
Envy:
Janice: This picture shows jealousy and envy very well. So you're sold on theme connection, and you are front and centre, however, there are a few problems with this. Being up close, we can't see much fashion, we can't see much modelling. It's great for portraying the theme, but we're missing the core basic of this competition.
Morgan: Those bitches! I can see you seething with envy, jealousy and rage in this photo. Your facial expression, body language (even with your head ans shoulders portrays this) and the evil glow of your eyes. My thoughts exactly are mirrored in Janice's critique, I love the theme connection its powerful and stark but I'm not seeing model, I wouldn't think of you as a model in this photo but more of an actor.
Noel: I have to agree with the other judges here: you have the theme nailed, but the shot is too tight for us to get much modeling. Envy does seem to be one of the harder sins to pull off in this shoot, so I appreciate that you were able to tackle this theme and do it so well. Just remember that modeling and fashion tend to be on the scoring rubric a lot.
Coven:
Daphne:
Pride:
Janice: I thought this was sloth at first glance, but let me look at what you had to say...
The styling does say pride, but I think the entire feel of this picture says sloth in lazy student here. I think if Daphne were standing up, with a bit more people around her fawning over hair, it'd be stronger, or even her preening and being vain, that might help the theme connection. However, you've got some amazing fashion flair here, and you look long and luscious.
Morgan: Yes a Ja'mie reference! You look soooo quiche girl like omg. I like how your photo does accurately reflect pride as being a negative attribute, your attitude doesn't look desirable and you look very self-absorbed here. The setting and styling compliments your desired goal of looking like the bitchy popular girl who considers herself to be first class (equipped with her own lap dog as seen in the photo). I enjoy this photo, more emphasis could have been present to further reflect the sin of pride but overall, a solid job.
Noel: This is one of the (probably) few times that your lips won't bother me. With the personality archetype you're trying to portray here, those lips are very fitting. Even though I still hate that type of lip, I can appreciate it for what it adds to the photo here. I can see pride in this shot, but it's not the strongest connection I've seen. I do see a little bit of the sloth in this shot, but pride is definitely the overriding theme here, so you're still good with me. I do like the placement of your right leg as that helps give us some more angles to see since your body is in profile here.
Team Curious:
Alice:
Wrath:
Janice: Great representation of wrath. It's creepily fantastic and maniacal. Especially the expression. I'm liking the picture quite a bit.
Morgan: When people talk about a dream they had where a "creepy child was looking at me with her head cocked to one side and a knife in her hand" they are talking about this exact vision. The more I look at this photo the more I enjoy it. You look comfortably angry which is interesting. I love the way you are connecting to your setting and the way the setting is connecting to you, the couch behind you appears to form devil wings on your back. Your eyes are hypnotic and haunting, this is great.
Noel: I was able to immediately guess wrath, so you have the theme down well. That said, this isn't my favorite shot of you; mainly cause of your face. I think your eyes might be spaced too far apart, but if that's not it, it's definitely something, cause it's just off. Your eyes might be angled a bit strangely, now that I look at it again. The setting is very dark and I love it. We don't get to see as much of your fashions since you're pretty covered up, but we still get some, so it still works. Overall, I like this shot; it's just not my favorite from you.
Heart Attack:
Jennifer:
Sloth:
Janice: I'm a little mixed on this picture. On the plus side, I do see sloth - in that she's been sleeping there for so long, she seems to have developed dust. That being said, I feel the styling - mixed with the black and white - is robbing the image a little bit. I'd like to see a coloured background and a statuesque Jennifer.
Morgan: This is a very interesting submission, not like the typical photos we would have for sloth. You appear tired and inactive but this doesn't appear to be consensual I see suffering, poverty and pain in this photo. So I do see a connection but I'm not sure that the connection fits the sin of sloth entirely. I love the cultural and historical element in this photo and the fact that a strong story could compliment this image of Jennifer.
Noel: I appreciate that you didn't take the easy route when representing sloth and just post a picture of someone lazily laying on something like, let's say, a couch maybe. Who would be lame enough to do something like that? That said, it's a little difficult to see and I wasn't sure what your sin was. It's still there, just a little difficult to see and needed your description to help sell it. This shot's a bit strange... I'm mainly talking about it looking like you have some facial hair. Unlike Janice, I like this shot in black and white. I feel it enhances a nice dramatic flair. This is a time where the lack of energy is working for you since it's your chosen theme.
Team MAY:
Shailene:
Greed:
Janice: I'm not sure you've sold this very well. It just seems a bit of a mess to me. I think perhaps the best way for you to have approached this photoshoot was to perhaps include more yellow or gold, or perhaps to focus on a more material, monetary or extravagant way.
Morgan: I'm glad you have attempted to give us a bit of a back story into how this photo reflects greed or else I would have been at a loss. I can see now how Shailene is being greedy elongating herself across two beds, but even with a fitting description the photo is lacking theme connection. The photo needs to be able to speak for itself with a complimentary commentary by the model, but this photo doesn't say greed to me in itself. I see potential lust, seduction as well as confusion. The effort is noted but the overall execution of the photo isn't hitting the mark for me.
Noel: I appreciate your story and it does help sell your theme. Your theme isn't the strongest, but you've at least sold it. I could see this a bit better as lust, though. I would have liked a larger photo of you, though. I love the fashion here and there's some modeling going on, but you're a bit too small and with the proportions of the photo, a larger one would have helped us see you better.
Team Pisces:
Michiru:
Lust:
Janice: With Michiru being the elegant beauty she is, I wondered how you'd pull off lust with her. Like you, I see more loving than lustful, however, it doesn't come at the cost of modelling content which is coming in beautifully. It's not the best theme connection wise, but I think it's executed well. Fashion-wise - The difference between this and your deities picture is that this sailor uniform looks expensive, made from silk, and other expensive fabrics. That's a very hard thing to do.
Morgan: Such a redeeming photo compared to the last time we saw Michiru. Unlike Janice, I see lust here more strongly than love. I love the hand positioning, the sensual look in your eyes, you look like you are both caught up in an high intensity emotional whirlwind. It's extremely fitting to the theme and I enjoy your fashion also, the environment you are in and your posing is giving us another perspective of your attire. You rocked this.
Noel: I'll probably split the difference between the judges here. I see lust in this photo by the expression on your face, but it's a little more of a subtle lust, so I can understand why Janice didn't see it as well as Morgan did. I definitely love the level of detail in this shot and the art style itself. With the exception of the theme not being as strong as it could have been, this is a pretty strong shot.
Team TestosterOWNED:
Logan:
Gluttony:
Janice: Okay, first thing's first. The thing with the male superheroes is they're rarely in flattering poses for the body, or the face, despite being buff and brawly. Although the arms, upper body and one of the legs are in great position, the other leg makes it look like you're going to the toilet, and the face matches. The face is definitely not the best face, and taking it too far into ugly territory rather than model ugly. I'd believe the gluttony in this picture more if he had blood around his mouth too, but without it, it's strayed too far into wrath territory for me.
Noel: Yeah, I also get wrath more than gluttony in this shot, but your description does tie it to your theme, so it's present. The quality of the shot itself is off, so that's a bit of a problem for me. I do feel bad that I didn't specify that you couldn't your the model you used last round since when you chose your sin, you had three left to choose from and I don't think you would have gone with this sin had you been told that you couldn't use Ryan. Knowing Logan's story, I would imagine there'd be some good envy shots of him out there you could have used (and it was available when you reserved). At least the posing is interesting.
Morgan: Sorry for the late critique! Morgan has been very busy planning for his new job and moving location. Unfortunately the first thing that comes to my mind when I see this photo is "messy." Your modelling, the quality and the setting appear messy. There is a jumble of limbs, artistic detail and your facial modelling although strong crosses the ugly model boundary. I appreciate the theme connection in your description and I can see this mirrored in your photo, you look extremely lustful for sustenance you gluttonous fiend but I don't think this is your best.
