This photoshoot was all about embodying a muse: A goddess of the arts who would inspire many great poets and story tellers: Except we wanted a modern representation of them, complete with a description. Let's see how we went this week!
Team 90210:
Josh: Euterpe
Microphone = Euterpe
Team Brit 2.0:
Psylocke: Thalia
For this photoshoot I chose Thalia. Thalia is mainly seen holding a comedy mask in her hand. And I wanted Psylocke to represent Thalia through the comedy mask in a fresh urban superhero way.
Merida: Clio
As of July 2013, Merida will officially become the eleventh member of the “Disney Princess” franchise. As Clio is the muse of history, this week Merida will represent her own history by paying homage to the first Disney Princess that started it all, Snow White. Here she is posing with the infamous poisoned apple.
Christina: Polyhymnia
~Polyhymnia~ She is the muse of hymns. She is often depicted in a pensive and thoughtful state and often with a veil.
International Studs:
Bradley: Erato
He is a knight in shining armor protecting the ideas of chivalry and protecting his love from enemies.
Team Nordic:
Alexander: Melpomene
The tragedy is portrayed through the loss of the love of his life. The muse roams graveyards to inspire the loss of love ones to experience the tragedy which he always feels when he makes a visit to the grave of his loved one.
SuperModels:
Superman: Urania
I had a few reasons for choosing this photo.
1. He's flying around the world, the globe so to speak
2. He's wearing a cloak, his cape
3. He's flying around in the night sky, where the stars and the moon come out to play
Also I love this angle of his face and body. Something very sexy about it.
Below I've included a few quotes that also made me believe in this photo.
Toph: Terpsichore
I chose this photo to represent Terpsichore due to the dance aspect.
Toph is an Earth/Metal Bender and I felt dancing with a dragon type
object of her own making would be very creative. Since Toph is more of a
tomboy type of character, I was pleased to find a photo where she is so
feminine and looks like she is dancing.
Team 90210:
Josh: Euterpe
Microphone = Euterpe
Morgan: Let me be the first one to chide you, "microphone = Euterpe" is not an description and really gives us nothing to judge you on for the description component of judging. Now thats out of the way, I like how you are the centre of attention in this photo and the mood of the photo does look quite mournful which demonstrates a connection to your muse. Your face is the strongest aspect of the photo for me, the shadowing across your body robs you of your shape. Although your torso does look long and lean which is a bonus.
Janice: Well, you're pretty much getting a zero for description. To me, you're singing a mournful song that's full of angst, That somewhat fills in the theme connection brief. Fashion-wise, though you're topless, I like how you are accessorised to give it a fashion flair. Your face is angsty too, and fits in well with the overall atmosphere of this picture.
Tiny Tina: Yo son, I is lovin that tattoo ya gots. Yo makeup be makin' ya look all emo, but that ain't necessarily a bad thing. A description would have been nice, but I can see see the Euterpe in this photo.
Team Brit 2.0:
Psylocke: Thalia
For this photoshoot I chose Thalia. Thalia is mainly seen holding a comedy mask in her hand. And I wanted Psylocke to represent Thalia through the comedy mask in a fresh urban superhero way.
Janice: I'm a little bit unsure on how this connects to Thalia. I see your psionic butterfly, and I guess that's sort of like a mask. I see a smile, but that's not comedy. I really do not see Thalia here in the slightest bit unfortunately. Thank goodness you have fashion and modelling to save you a bit.
Morgan: I also can't see the comedy element in this photo, the slight smirk and mischievous look in your eye as well as representation of Psylock's dualism are the only things that would hint a connection to Thalia for me. And that's me trying to find some sort of connection rather the description finding it for me. Theme connection aside, I do like the power in this photo and yet amongst all of this energy you still look very feminine and model like. I love those big round melons just staring at me, they are just memorising Morgan.
Tiny Tina: I think I can kinda see the Thalia in this, girl. I's thinking you were thinking of the masks where one is smilin' and the other all sad 'n' stuff. If that's the case, I think that's why you went with the photo that has two sides for Psylocke. Even then, these aren't fully two sides, but there's a hint of that. You at least gots some good modeling going on with this photo, though. That gonna really help you this round.

As Clio is the muse of history, this week Merida will represent her own history by paying homage to the first Disney Princess that started it all, Snow White. Here she is posing with the infamous poisoned apple.
Morgan: I actually quite like the concept you have given us here, this is a prime example of a photo that does not necessarily connect with the theme at first glance but the description gives it a whole new meaning. I love the idea of the apple posing as a historical symbol connecting Merida to the original princess. Merida herself looks very sweet here with her enormous blue eyes and long neck. I like how each time you use Merida are showing us more of her modelling features.
Janice: It's a stretch from the theme, but your description makes it work. Just by the adding of a single prop and saying it's homage to Snow White completely changes the meaning of the picture. The arrow does seem a bit out of place though, but I guess it's a cross over of Merida and Snow White. Modelling-wise, I love the neck extension, and the confidence in the expression. Fashion we could see more of though.
Tiny Tina: THis is why you is supposed ta give us descriptions cuz I probably would have knocked you for theme connection, but your description connects it for me and like Morgan, I like the apple tie-in. Also, I'm liking the pose and the styling for this shot. Yo hair is lookin' dope and yo eyes is all like "BLAM!" Yo dress is nothing new, but most fictional characters tend to be depicted as always wearing the same outfit, so you can't really help that.

Christina: Polyhymnia
~Polyhymnia~ She is the muse of hymns. She is often depicted in a pensive and thoughtful state and often with a veil.
Morgan: This photo has a great connection to your muse and is also a good photo of you as well, what a double whammy. You truly do look in a thoughtful, imaginative state and look naked as well (as if you didn't expect Morgan to notice). The nakedness bears a symbol to vulnerability which I like. Your neck is deliciously long here, and I love the way that veil makes your facial features pop out rather than become covered.
Janice: I must say I wasn't at all expecting this! You definitely got the muse down to the tee, I love the shadows, I love the veil, and I love the modelling. Where this photo is lacking though is a proper description. Even if the photo was obvious for the muse, we still did expect a description, perhaps entailing why you felt this photo was perfect, or background on the muse.
Tiny Tina: I went back to the shoot thread to double-check and it was in big bold letters that a description was required. Still I can easily see yo Muse in this shot. You got you some great modeling goin' on here and the expression and styling is perfect for yo Muse. Great job, girl.

International Studs:
Bradley: Erato
He is a knight in shining armor protecting the ideas of chivalry and protecting his love from enemies.
Morgan: Hmm, this photo doesn't hit the mark for me in regards to connecting with your muse. Erato is a muse of love and erotic poetry, but this photo looks like it is representing qualities such as loyalty, courage etc. Your little intro gives us something to work on to give us a context but it doesn't tie in exactly to what Erato represents. Focusing on the modelling side I think this is a great profile shot of you, your bone structure stands out well and you look very handsome.
Janice: What's your muse? Clio? No that can't be right. Was it Calliope? Nope, not her either? I don't know. *gets handed a card* ... Erato? What?? How? Oh. Knight in Shining Armour, I get it. Modelling-wise, lovely chiselled features, great profile. Definitely the kind of Knight in Shining Armour that I want. But other than that, not strong. The description doesn't help you either
Tiny Tina: I is confused. I went and did further research of yo Muse and I don't see where this "Knight in Shining Armor" comes into play. Maybe a better description on how this tied into yo Muse could have helped me get there. Still, I'm liking yo pose and that is a hella beautiful angle ya gots there. You lookin good, boy. I want you to be my Knight in Shining Armor.

Team Nordic:
Alexander: Melpomene
Melpomene: She is the muse of tragedy (A story with a sad ending like Romeo and Juliet, or a modern example: Sucker Punch). She is depicted with a tragic mask.
The tragedy is portrayed through the loss of the love of his life. The muse roams graveyards to inspire the loss of love ones to experience the tragedy which he always feels when he makes a visit to the grave of his loved one.
Morgan: You have picked something with an obvious connection to the theme which is great as this photoshoot is often a hard one to get ones head around. I love the emotion that you bring to the photo, very sombre but at the same time there looks to be a look of regret in your eyes. This is a very soft photo of you, you look exposed to feeling human emotion which is a nice side of you to see.
Janice: ACK! ZOMBIE! Well, not really, but the expression is rather dead. Quite befitting for a graveyard... But what's this? Do I see sorrow in your expression? Just the slightest bit? I DO! Well, this changes things. I love the fashion, but the kneeling towards camera makes your legs amputated. I see the muse of tragedy in this photograph, but I would have liked a bit more from the description.
Tiny Tina: Wow, you expression and yo posin' is just right for yo Muse this round. I can see alls kinds of Melpomene up in that photo. The lack of energy and da bad posture all make perfect sense here and the setting really helps you, too. You feeling all kinds of emotion here and we see dat. Great job

Those who are most concerned with philosophy and the heavens are dearest to her. Those who have been instructed by her she raises aloft to heaven, for it is a fact that imagination and the power of thought lift men's souls to heavenly heights.
Urania, o'er her star-bespangled lyre
With touch of majesty diffused her soul
A thousand tones, that in the breast inspire
Exalted feelings, o er the wires'gan roll
How at the call of Jove the mist unfurled
And o'er the swelling vault—the glowing sky
The new-born stars hung out their lamps on high
And rolled their mighty orbs to music's sweetest sound.

Astronomy is a natural science that deals with the study of celestial objects (such as moons, planets, stars,nebulae, and galaxies);
Janice: Even without the description, I could see Urania reborn in this photo,
but the description really won me over for this photograph. I can see
you as someone that people would look up to the sky and get inspiration.
The setting is really effective in this case. Modelling-wise, your body
is deformed and disproportionate. Your legs are really strange for
starters. I mean, you're shitting one out of your ass! That's gross.Almost as bad as the time I grossed Morgan out by introducing him to extreme gay fisting photos.
Morgan: Superman! Master of the heavens and sky, what a great connection. You
look to be completely dominating that sky and look very strong and
confident in this photo. Unfortunately now because of Janice's comment I
can't stop laughing at the foot/butt conundrum when ever I look at your
photo, but that criticism aside I think its important to be aware of
your body positioning from head to toe. Your upper body modelling is
strong but you forgot about the lower half. Good to see you put some
research into your muse.
Tiny Tina: Ok, I can definitely see yo connection here and I'm liking da pose. It
may be a standard pose for Superman, but it's a standard for a reason:
cuz it works. You look so strong and manly here and yo descriptions
helps tie even that into yo Muse. Janice's comment also has me thinking
"Don't make me break my foot off in yo ass!" Still, that is the only
thing ta go wrong here and it's very minor. Great job, boo.

Morgan: Ooh I like this connection with your muse, as well as maintaining an
element of your self. To me this does look like you are in the middle of
some kind of dance, so powerful that it is moving the earth you are
standing on. You do look very feminine and soft and yet very strong and
dangerous at the same time. The dragon flowing around you looks like a
ribbon that people often use in rhythmic gymnastics or dance.
Janice: Being yourself and someone else at the same time in a photo is a hard
thing to do, but I think this is perfect. Definitely saw Terpsichore
right off the bat here. Your description is one of the better ones we've
seen this round. The photo is interesting to the eye and fits the theme
well. Best of all, you've got fashion and modelling incorporated too!
Great job!
Tiny Tina: I'm loving all the movement in da photo. While you look like you could
possible be in the middle of some kind of dance, all da movement from yo
dragon helps create more energy to make the dance believable. I
appreciate yo description girl, cuz that really be helping to tie in yo
Muse to this picture. I'm loving the way you dressed and you showing us a
different side to yoself, while still remaining true ta you.

White Chicks:
Wonder Woman: Calliope
The
epic story of the amazon princess Diana. She lives in an island home to
the Amazons: beautiful, ageless women with great srength, agility and
intelligence. Trevor, an american, is rescued and brought back to health
by Diana. Her mother, the amazon queen, decides to held an
olympic-style game to determine which Amazon should return Trevor back
to America. However, Diana is forbidden to participate and this
enfuriates her. She hides in a costume and wins the games, leaving her
mother no other choice but to let her go to America. In mysterious
lands, Diana has to endure thousands of adventures that show her
tenacity, mindcraft and abilities.
This
photo represents the will and power in Wonder Woman's mind to achieve
everything she sets her mind to. Fire may be the bringer of destruction,
the symbolism of chaos and war; it may burn everything. However, fire
is the power to bring fire to man. Fire banishes the darkness, cleanses
and purifies. And a strenght such as that is only found in the power of a
woman like Diana. In her wonder she brings fire because she brings
change and in her power she brings soul because she gives life where
darkness seemed to reign.

Janice: This photo is epic. It is Calliope embodied. Your description is
perfection. Your modelling is perfection. Your theme connection is
perfection. And your fashion content... Well as near perfection as
Wonderwoman's costume can get! Excellent job!
Morgan: This is certainly a different way to approach a photo shoot, usually
people would represent Calliope as a muse writing some poetry or
engaging in some fanatical activity but you have provided us with your
own epic poetry! A great description that has made Wonder Woman a part
of one of Callope's epic poetry, your description brings life to this
photo. I love the sorceress, shifting feel to this photo, it looks like
you are in control of stirring the environment around you to be whatever
you please. And yet the fire braces on your wrists keep you connected
and grounded at the same time. A lot of symbolism and strong facial
expressions are just the cherry on top for this photo.
Tiny Tina: Way to go on the description; one of the best ones we got this round. It
really helps fully connect yo picture to yo Muse and it really is a
stunning shot. There's so much story in yo photo. As I said with another
model, fictional character tend to always be wearing the same thing and
there's nothing you can do ta help that, but yo outfit is shaded just
right in this that it adds more impact. You done a great job, girl.
