Welcome! Today, we will decide whose ads for Ultima were the best.
Morgan:
Candice - This photo does have a very tranquil vibe to it doesnt it! I like the soft emotion you are giving off, you look very content. Although you look great here, there appears to be a tension in your body as seen from the strain in your neck and the stiffness in your belly.
Madonna - Although I like the edginess in your styling, the quirkiness in your modelling and the fact that I can clearly see your eye shadow I would have liked some connectivity with the camera as this is a makeup shot we need you to be commercial and selling the product. This being said though I am not disappointed with what you have given us, its good to see a different side to Madonna.
Emma - This seems to be a bit of a theme for the ultima lens, to show us a powerful one eye stare. Your eyes really so stand out here and your stare is mysterious and somewhat daunting which I like. I also enjoy the story that could be interpreted from this shot. Your facial features look deliciously defined and smooth here.
Janice: I do see the nice, warm, summery tranquility in this photo, but it doesn't exactly strike me as a perfume advertisement. I feel the colours are probably a bit too bright. Especially considering the fact that the theme is supposed to be "Tranquility". I can imagine a tropical, exciting, summery scent, but not a relaxing tranquil scent. Modelling-wise, you are doing well, but at the same time, it doesn't read "perfume."
Madonna's eyeshadow advertisement is not your typical eyeshadow commercial. This shoot, we were definitely looking for a regular to high-end commercial photo, but this photo is definitely a bit too edgy. Eye-contact is basically a must with eyeshadow. But on the plus side, we're seeing a lot of it.
Emma's contact lens photo is striking though, though only one eye is showing, it is piercing, and shows the colour off very well. The only problem is the environmental factor. It would be better if she wasn't soaking wet.
Rarity: Hello there, Blonde Ambition! And quite the ambition you've shown this season too.
Candice - Taking into consideration the modifications due to the ad, which happens every season, this is fine. I say fine because I'm not blown away by this photo and it may be because I've never really liked armpits. However, do see perfume ad quality because of the brilliant profile and the exposure of your neck. Nicely done there.
Madonna - To be honest, I barely recognized you. There's a bit of Drew Barrymore in the facial structure, but I know it's you Madonna, going for that young and fresh look, as always. They eye shadow is great, the only complaint I have is your hair partially covering one eye. Overall, better than Candice.
Emma - Dear, I love this. I reeks of taste and artistry. The best part, that one single eye catches my attention right away, and holds it. Very well done!
Morgan:
Mehreen - Mmmm I can already smell the exotic, sweet smell of royalty from here. I love this photo, the setting, the styling, your presence and your beauty here is flawless! The only criticism I have is be mindful of your limb placement, here it looks a little bit like your fingers are little stubs as they arent placed properly.
Shilpa - In this photo you also look flawless, and you always appear to photograph well. However I haven't seen much more from you other than a pretty picture. I want to see action, passion, spice and flavour from you. Even though you have been resting on pretty, this photo would be perfect for a beauty advertisement so you have connected well with the theme.
Pocahontas - AMAZING! This is a beautiful photo, Pocahontas has been the star player on your team thus far. The modelling here is beautiful, serene, gentle and innocent and your eyes stand out here. There is a lot of emotion portrayed in your eyes which is great to see. Just fantastic.
Janice: Mehreen, your face is flawless here. You truly look like an Pakistani Princess here, and it brings out the regality we expect from you. I feel like I can smell the scent of the perfume. Great job here.
Shilpa, this is an amazing photo for any makeup advertisement, and you know it. It could work as lipstick, mascara, foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipgloss, you name it. Great photo.
Finally, Pocahontas. Wow. Just wow. Beautiful photo, beautiful features. And the eyes pop out. There's a lot of emotion. It's a really impressive photograph.
Rarity: Team India! As I took a quick glance at photos past, I am happy to see you've made it thus far.
Mehreen - This is perfect. You're barely showing any skin, but because you are part of Team India you don't have too! How your hand is positioned really sells this as a fragrance ad, having your neck exposed and that "come smell me" expression doesn't hurt either. I'm impressed!
Shilpa - I think this is good for eye shadow, but I'm left wanting more. I blame Mehreen, because while this works, it's a bit flat and boring. However, your skin is flawless and that's a bonus plus. Nice job.
Pocahontas - Honestly, I wasn't sure about you up until now. This is truly beautiful. I love the twinkle in both eyes and how your hair is being blown away, and out of your face. Stunning.
Morgan:
Yulia - I'm glad you picked this photo from the bunch, because this is the one that I preferred. You look like the picture perfect meaning of elegance here. I love the soft modelling, the arch in your back and your strong stance. Many women give me that facial expression of "Follow me, for I am so innocent and I am not going to lead you into my bedroom." Ahh the memories!
Katie - This photo has its strong and weak elements. Your facial features are very exemplified here which is great to see and this angle of you is very strong. I'm not particularly fond of the hairstyle and your eye shadow doesn't stand out too much but it is evident it is there. This photo needs to be bigger!
Makoto - Now this is electrifying! Even though only one eye is open here, your lens are shining bright and the entire photo colour scheme is complimenting the lens you are selling. This is a very strong photo of you, I'm glad that you picked this one from the bunch.
Janice: You have become really great at choosing your pictures from your samples. You have chosen a great photo for your fragrance, and a great name to go with it. The colours in this photo are soft and sort of tell us there is a sweet floral or fruity scent that's very elegant and high end. My main concern here though is her modelling pose, it's effortless, but uninteresting.
I can't really see your eyeshadow in this photo of Katie, but it would be a great foundation or eye-liner photograph. But when it comes to the eyeshadow, I feel it isn't showcased very well.
Mako's circle lens photo is electrifying and striking. It is showcased extremely well. Your presence is strong here, and everything compliments the other very well. A great photograph.
Rarity: International Beauties indeed!
Yulia - This photo is definitely elegant and fantastic as a full body shot. I love your description as well. The bad news is I'm not sold that this is a fragrance ad so much as a clothing/jewelry one. When I think of an ad for perfume, I see a subtle (or not so subtle) hand position around the neck that screams, "come take a wiff and be under my spell". The photo is definitely beautiful, I'm just not sure it was right for this.
Katie - This works to an extent as well. The problem I'm having is that the color is charcoal, I think that's a great name for an eye shadow, except that your face is in shadow as well so it's more mascara and natural shadow than eye shadow make-up for me. I do love your perfect skin and your mussed up hair gives it a little something extra. Not bad.
Makoto - This is definitely my favorite of the three. It's clear your selling the emerald and like Emma, just the one eye is all I need to get caught up in the experience. The brow over the open eye is bothering me though and I can't really tell what it is. It just does. But otherwise I'm sold, good work here!
Morgan:
Rick - Well this definitely different isn't it. First of all I want to say kudos for giving us something unique and a bit eccentric, I like it when risks are taken. I like the action in this shot, the quirkiness and the personality that you are showing us. I know your tattoos are only body art but unfortunately in this shot they add a lot of age to you. If the body art was not so dominate, your facial expression may have passed as a "silly model" face, but to me your facial expression is more of a "ugly model" face. However I do enjoy your cologne concept, very well thought out.
Amy - I'm going to say this is the best Amy photo that I have seen from you, and a photo in which Amy actually looks like a model. Your facial features are very strong, and you are making a great connection with the camera. This could have passed as a contact lens or a eye shadow shot as both of these elements are predominate in the photo. Your eye shadow appears to be more of a smoky black rather than a grey.
Jack - This is great, I'm glad you found a picture of Jack where his eyes are really lit up. I love the mystery and magic in this shot and this is largely portrayed by your body posture and your facial expression. I love the smirk you are giving us and the shadow which crosses the side of the face gives your face more complexity and depth. Great job!
Janice: I like this, and how you have sold it to us with your description. But Morgan does have a good point with the aged remark. It does look old around the mouth area, and that is due to the body art. I can imagine a very musky and funky scent with this picture, I think you have sold it well.
Those eyes pierce right through! And the eyeshadow stands out very well! This is probably the strongest photo of Amy we have seen, and it's what we want to see at this stage of the competition. It's a great campaign.
You have taken a different angle than the others with this photo of Jack, giving us a glow in the dark lens, and you know what? It works perfectly in this case for the advertised product.
Rarity: The Scream Team! And let me tell you, it's been a scream to watch you through the competition.
Rick - Honestly, if not for the description you provided, I would have scoffed at this and moved on. I still might, because while I love descriptions as much as the next person, I judge the photo as it is. Because of the name of the cologne "Odd One Out" this works. What also works for this is your bare arms. I know it's a woman sort of thing to do, but I notice some guys who dab just a little cologne on their wrists as well. For a goofball, you did a nice job.
Amy - This is great. Probably a little safe, but I like it. It is definitely a softer side to Amy that we haven't seen before. I know the ad has grey eye shadow and that goes more with your eyes, but you explained that so I know it should be black, which it is. And even though it's black, it's not hidden by actual shadow because of your full on face pose.
Jack - Considering most photos of Jack have no eye-color, this is extremely inventive, I do also enjoy that the bat has a different color from Jack and that two choices are given, variety is key! I'm sold on it. Well done!
