Welcome! This week, we will split up the panel into two halves, so you can see how you faired in our double shoot. There will be a double shoot next shoot, followed by THREE triple shoots as we near the end of our competition. There will be no elimination this panel, but eliminations will resume next time.
Congratulations top five! You are now all eligible for jury duty. Each eliminated contestant is placed on the jury. There, they will have the same role as the judges in picking the winner, and can even offer critique to the remaining contestants when eliminated.
Now onto Panel!
Blonde Ambition:
Candice: Prostitution
I chose this photo because I felt the little photos down the side show like someone following the guy as he's meeting with his prostitute. The paper down the other side looks like a bill sort of, maybe a bill being passed into law. And the two look like they're meeting late at night in an alley or something.
Janice: The picture you paint of your own photograph is very thorough and believable. There is a good deal of chemistry here, and an issue that brings so many into the debate. Each element compliments the other nicely, which is good because there is a lot going on.
Morgan: This is a great shot and it tells such a detailed story. I don't know if you were pro or against prostitution as a political issue but I can see a bit of both in the photo which I also enjoy. Candice appears to be wanting to push this man away but there appears to be a look of decisiveness in her face as she knows she HAS to do this. This photo has a lot of meaning and this is largely portrayed by you and your involvement in the photo and setting. Great job!
Team Fantabulous:
Anya: Illegal immigration
Morgan: This is a different and unique way of illustrating immigration. Your facial expression tells a million stories of confusion and disgust looking at the fence where belongings of yours (perhaps representing you!) are stuck on a barrier or an obstacle which is a powerful representation of immigration. A description was necessary and would have provided you with an opportunity to express the story of this photo and how it represents this photo. The fashion content and your presence in this photo is high.
Janice: I can see the issue of illegal immigration in the picture, in the way that you are at a fence. You are looking around suspiciously, and it's very fashion forward. However, a description was required for this photoshoot.
Team India:
Mehreen: Arranged marriage
For this photoshoot, I had to use Mehreen. The political issue that I decided to portray is Pro-Arranged Marriage. This issue has always been about the freedom to choose to spouse. The photo is similar to an engagement photo, but with the guy being a bit more forceful and Mehreen accepting her fate in this hypothetical arranged marriage.
Morgan: This photo has a great connection to the theme and political issue that you chose. Your modelling here is a little stunted which is fair considering the traditional, classic issue you chose and you look magnificently beautiful here. However you purport that this photo represents pro-arranged marriage, but to me it looks like a somewhat negative portrayal of arranged marriage rather than a positive portrayal. As you said there is a vibe of forcefulness from the male model, a look of submissiveness and acceptance from Mehreen rather than enthusiasm and love with this arranged marriage.
Janice: An arranged marriage as opposed to a love marriage. Like Morgan, I would get confused if you did not tell us it was a pro-arranged marriage photo, and described Mehreen as "accepting her fate." That being said, it is a difficult subject to represent, I don't know how it would be represented in a completely positive light.
International Beauties:
Yulia: Arts education
Yulia is here to campaign to save the arts in schools.
The wind through her hair and the black and white all portray the removal of the arts. Black and white is apart of the past. And the wind is like it's slowly fading away.
Her eyes are closed to portray the sadness if the government takes art, drama, orchestra, and band out of the school system.
Morgan: Damn girl I wish I did more arts in my school days. I like the theme connection here and the fact that you look so graceful, but at the same time it doesn't even look like you know you are being photographed or part of a photoshoot. You look completely engrossed in the music and you look beautiful at the same time. The only negative aspect of this photo is that I feel like it is cropped too harsly to the point where the action in the shot is being compromised. I would have liked to see more of you!
Janice: I really enjoy your description here, explaining what each element represents. The black and white meaning fading away, the wind blowing away hope, et cetera. Painting a sad scene without the arts. I think you've done a stellar job here!
Scream Team:
Amy: Animal welfare
Amy Lee is an avid cat lover. She was quoted in US Weekly to have said "I love my cats more than I love most people. Probably more than is healthy." Another aspect about Amy you may not know is that she doesn't smile at the camera often, so the soft smirk she does shows easily shows her approval for cat rights in the very least.
Morgan: Morgan: Ahh a fellow cat lover! I am pleased to see this. This photo has a great theme connection and I do like the subtle, content smile that Amy has on her lips, furthermore there is a good strong eye connection with the camera. The main issue that I have with this photo is that Amy doesn't look like a model, it looks like photo someone would take at home of themselves rather than a exquisite model shot. Just as a side note, Amy's hair looks a bit frazzled here in a messy sense, Morgan likes his ladies to have soft, silky hair.
Janice: Like Morgan, my main issue with the photo is Amy isn't really bringing the modelling into a model competition. You do look a little like an everyday person here. However, I do like the crazy cat lady hair, for your love of cats.
