Climate Change
One of the most dire impacts of climate change is a rise in the global sea level caused by the added water from melting land ice and the expansion of sea water as it warms. Not only is there evidence that sea levels are rising, there is also evidence both that the rate of sea level rise has been increasing in recent years and that it will continue to increase.
Cate is representing a tragic dramatisation of this future, mourning the loss of the human race and everything that once lived here.

Immigration
First off, my apologies for how ginormous this photo is. I decided to take a risk here, because I felt that cropping the image or shrinking it much futher than this would either detract from the execution or would make Xiao look tiny in comparison, and I didn't want to detract from the artistic statement I was making here.
Immigration is one of the biggest political issues in the entire world right now. With the Syrian crisis and other issues causing widespread evacuation of hostile nations, and Trump's infamous campaign promises regarding illegal immigrants, this is a matter that everybody is developing opinions on.
I felt like this photo was a great depiction of some fears around immigration. Up at the very top, above an impossibly high wall, we see freedom and birds flying, and down at the bottom, we have darkness. The wall is clearly designed to keep Xiao out, leave her in the darkness, and deny her from experiencing the freedom that exists on the other side. It's almost like she's trying to sneak past the wall somehow, but she's been caught in the searchlight, and now she's going to be left to an uncertain fate - much like many, many ethnic minorities will be if Trump gets elected next week.

Crisis Intervention
One of the biggest global issues today is the idea of intervention and humanitarian aid. I did a lot of research on this, and one of the big political issues in 2016 was the question of airdropping food, supplies, and/or weaponry into countries such as Syria. The airdrop method is monstrously inefficient compared to other methods of transporting supplies, and in some cases, can actually worsen the situation due to conflict over the material received, risk of escalation or retaliation from the enemy, or supplies falling into the wrong hands.
This picture, I feel, raises questions about whether North America should be involving itself in foreign affairs, and, if so, to what degree? Does it actually help anything, or are we inadvertently making the problem worse?

National Defence
I chose national defense Tony is pretty much the poster boy for the issue he works along side the government as an inventor and scientist to create and finance the development of tools and weapons for the military hes a defense contractor. weather you use the current MCU origin or why me became Iron man or you dabble in the comics. creating his armor was sparked after he was taken by terrorists after seeing his inventions falling into the wrong hangs and posing a threat he creates an armor and vows to stop anyone who poses a threat to what he loves. Ultimately he want peace but he understands the cost. he refuses to build weapons for his captors and becomes one himself.

Same-Sex Relations
During the last 200 years, an increasing number of countries have decriminalised same-sex relationships. However, homosexuality is still punishable with the death penalty in five countries, while a further 70 imprison citizens because of their sexual orientation. Sometimes I forget just how fortunate I am to live in a place where love isn't a crime.
I didn't want to submit a sexualized photo for this as love isn't just about sex. It's about being happy with someone, regardless of their gender, and Marceline is demonstrating this in this photo.
Tier 1:
War Veterans
Basically War Awareness. Not necessarily against the war. I don't think the typical American understands what the war veterans had/have to do. Some lose their lives, some lose their limbs, some go through PSTD. Nyle is wearing black for the soldiers who have died and will die. He looks solemn but strong. Solemn for the sad times but strong for the upcoming times ahead.

Janice: I'm not sure if you're trying to tell us that climate change is bad? Because if this is what happens, sign me up. That is, it's a beautiful picture, high modelling, high fashion, but theme? I'm not particularly seeing it.
Emma: I actually get it. This photo is amazingly beautiful. So high fashion. I'm sold.
Rarity: Janice honestly stole most of the words right out of my mouth. I absolutely see what you are going for, with the sea level rise represented in the water surrounding the photo, but the scenery is just too gorgeous for it to feel tragic. If Cate, who is off to the side, yet still the center of attention somehow, were wearing black, it would feel more like a mourning. An amazing attempt, though.
Morgan: You have nailed the theme element with this stunning picture! Although my opinion of your modelling is quite different to the rest of the judges, I have to be honest and say that my first thought when I saw you in this picture was "Female Voldemort." Even though I appreciate the fashion and symbolic nature of your attire and accessories, they are not doing you any favours in exemplifying your facial features. Your face looks quite squashed here and aged.

Morgan: I'm glad you kept the picture as is because it tells a very strong story with lots of visual imagery to set the scene for your political awareness topic. Everything about it is perfect theme wise. I love how you are still representing high quality fashion as well. Modelling wise you look great but the awkward placing of your arms is a strange pose to choose and I'm not a fan.
Janice: Echoing Morgan here. I'm also glad you didn't crop the picture. It looks very North Korea, and that's a good thing in this case. This is everything I'd want to see from a shoot depicting immigration and more.
Emma: I'm not fond of you in the picture but love the overall feel of the image and the theme.
Rarity: Darling, you nailed the theme. I, however, would have cropped the photo to just above the "Keep Out" so as to give your model more attention where she is slightly small in comparison with the background. I love the pose, darling. She's just been caught mid-sneak and awkward or not, it's how anyone would look with a spotlight on them the second they're caught. Very well done.

Janice: You went for a the most obvious choice, but you executed it very well. The only minor complaint I have is in the posing. I'd like the legs a little bit closer together, and a bit more comfortable for a landing. I'm not going to say "I want to see fashion versatility", because I know how hard it is to find different outfits for a video game character, having played as Samus once, and I remember the frustration of having to find something other than her mech or zero suits (Thankfully, Justin Bailey is a thing).
Emma: I like this but the gun seemed odd to me for dropping off food to help. Good overall tho
Rarity: Thankfully, this is the one photoshoot where explanations are not only helpful but necessary. Except in your case, dear. I have no problem seeing what you represent and I'm thrilled by how well executed it is. Your model is intense, striking, and perfect in her surroundings. Nice work.
Morgan: Sorry it took me a while to judge I have just been studying the divine angle of this photo, great for showing off your... female parts. Theme wise you have explained your picture well as well as submitting a photo which provides an interesting representation of your theme. You look great - femininely muscular, prepared for action and yet beautiful at the same time.

Janice: First of all, that face is everything. It's really just a shame its hidden by your hand in the front. I can see your theme connection, the execution in it is not quite there. It's also going to be hard to judge you on fashion content. I understand it's difficult, but the way fashion content works is that we need you to make a white singlet and jeans look like it's from a designer label.
Emma: This is nice. The light on the hand is odd but overall a good job.
Rarity: I do love an unsuited Tony Stark. I am loving that profile and the intensity in Tony's face too. Like Janice, I'm falling short on theme connection. Your explanation helps. Solid attempt, darling.
Morgan: Tony! My brother! High 5! A fellow man who also needs a robotic arm and hand because of our shared interest in hand exercises. The world is cruel sometimes, placing too many beauttiful women in the world and giving us limited access to them, we should really have some compensation like more than just two hands. Anyway.
Surprisingly your modelling features stand out to me in this picture with your side on glance bringing out your jawline and facial expression. Of course your modelling is only limited to shoulders up since theres not much happening torso downwards. Perhaps a different pose would have brought more life and theme connection to this photo.

Janice: Unfortunately, Princess Bubblegum is outshining Marceline in this picture, and that's due to her pinkness. It's a beautiful picture, I'm not so sure about the connection to the theme. The issue is this looks like they could be sisters or even best friends. But I know my friendship with Morgan doesn't look like that, as much as Morgan wants it to. Also we are still looking for fashion here. Unfortunately, yours is hidden behind Bubblegum.
Emma: I had to remember which one you were because she outshines you. I see lovers but you're not shinin here
Rarity: I'm not even going to bother reading your explanation, darling. I don't need too. I see what's been executed and it's near perfection. I suppose Princess Bubblegum is outshining a little since she's in front. However, I feel the two of you as a couple is a perfect yin and yang, the textbook definition of opposites attract. I'm sold, darling. This is wonderful to me. Janice is right, though, fashion must be taken into account.
Morgan: YES YES YES YES YES! I approve of your message and your female friend!
I love the symoblic nature of your joint posing here, it resembles a ying yang type of vibe where opposites join together in a loving feminine relationship (just like Janice and me). Like the other judges have noted, your princess peach girl is overtaking your presence. Maybe if you climbed on top of her you would stand out. Janice: I'll be honest, I wasn't a fan of this picture on the show, and I'm not a fan of it now. Your war vet looks plain awkward, and Nyle looks out of place. There was hardly a good picture in that entire cycle (And honestly, the only good thing to come out of it are Dustin's nudes and Nyle). Granted, you have great fashion, but I'm not seeing how this depicts your theme, and how Nyle depicts the message.
Unrelated to the picture, I think if you were to use something for the show for this shoot, I would have taken up the unpopular position of men's rights, and bring the concept of the disposable male as your issue.
Emma: I don't get it. And the Modelling isn't great. Sorry
Rarity: Honestly, darling, your explanation helps, but the man with the tattoos is outshining you here. He's got more color, his pose is more striking and you kind of look like a goofball with those pants. They relate heavily to M.C. Hammer and Aladdin, I hate them. The setting of the photo is what makes this photo meet the theme.
Morgan: Oh no, you both look so photoshopped into this environment and because of that I dont see any connection with your theme because you both just look "there." Modelling wise its another oh no, you both look so awkward and stoned. Tattoo guy looks like a mess and you just look like you've jumped onto the wrong set but you are trying to blend in. Nope I'm not sold.
