[Team Hara-Kiri]

Hallo, judges! 

This shoot was both easy and difficult for Team Kamikaze. The big advantage to being assigned eye products is that there's so much diversity and so many options to choose from - but at the same time that also raises the bar and means that you've really got to bring your A-game. For this shoot I decided to try and really emphasize the diversity of eye makeup, and showcase three different products. Hopefully you'll enjoy what I came up with

Eye shadow is often incredibly subtle, and that makes it very hard to emphasize and draw attention to in a photo. Rather than trying to go a softer route, I decided to be daring with it. The orange-blue combination is one that almost everybody shies away from; the colors are on the opposite ends of the spectrum, which means that they clash visually and it's incredibly difficult to pull that look off without becoming garish. The color immediately draws the eye and holds your attention, it's striking and curious, but it's not ugly, and I think it showcases the product really well.

~ Bingbing Li wearing Voluminous Million Lashes Diamonds by L'Oreal ~

For the mascara shot, I went with something that really emphasized the lashes, but put a bit of a creative spin on it so that it wasn't just a nice posed photo that happened to prominently feature nice eyelashes. The sparkly millions theme fit this photo beautifully, and I think the whole thing works together quite well.

My wife is in love with gel eyeliner, says it's fantastic stuff for a night out. Seems like the kind of thing that Sheik would be down with for a long night of skulking around rooftops and thwarting the forces of evil, amirite?

Tao's is good. I like the bright colours and definitely a great focus on her eyes. Bing's is gorgeous, but I don't like the turban blends in with the background, at first sight I was like omg where is her head. Her lips are also way too dark that I thought it was a lipstick ad at first. But her photo is amazing. Zelda's is nice. I like that you are covering most her face except for her eyes, brings the focus right where it belongs. Good job.

What happened to the Kamikaze method? There was so many edits done to these!

Tao's is indeed gorgeous. Shows off her features nicely, and the product, without taking away from the modelling.

It's funny Emma points out that the lips are too dark, when the original picture of this, the lips were a bright, vibrant red. My sentiments echo Emma about that turban.

And now, excuse me while I admire my edits of Sheik's eyes over yours. I think Zelda's ad came out the best out of any ad in the bunch.

Great series of products to be given playing asian models. Having played Koda Kumi and Bingbing Fan in games, I know you're pretty much screwed with asian models getting anything other than eyes for this week since you'll always get the comment "I feel like your eyes are taking focus away from the product."

However, it seems that can be a double-edged sword, cause while I do see the product incorporation for Tao, it's not as strongly represented as I expected. Still, it's easy to tell that it's what you're selling, especially since you have pretty much a nude makeup theme for the rest of the shot. I also like that you're giving us a 3/4 shot here since the other two shots have the same angle, so this one keeps your shots from getting stale this round.

Li, your shot is my favorite of the three. The product shines here and so do you. It looks like you edited Li's lips to be darker and I'm actually going to have to say that I like it that way. Had they been brighter, it could have been competing for attention more.

Zelda, as with all of the teams, I'm judging/scoring based off of the shots before Janice's edit. I don't really like how your eyes look here and since you're selling an eye product, it becomes a bigger problem. Also, with how dark the shot is overall, I think it takes away from your product. I do think you had one of the hardest tasks this round in finding a good shot for Zelda since I don't think she's a character that really has a focus on makeup in her design and especially not eye makeup. As a stand-alone shot ignoring the theme, I do overall like it cause I tend to gravitate more towards darker themes and you give us nice points of interest. I'm just not sold on it for this round. Although, Emma did bring up good point, that a really nice positive is that covering half your face immediately pulls our attention to your eyes.

That was totally the intention, lol. The lips in the original were so bright that they took a lot of the focus, and I wanted to make sure that the eyes were the first thing you noticed. I tried like hell to get them a more neutral shade but when I recolored them they kept coming out orange.
