~ Li Bingbing as Storm (X-Men) ~ While the X-Men might not be considered as revolutionary fictional characters as, say, Superman or Batman, I would argue that they absolutely are. The X-Men's mutant genes have long been considered allegorical for homosexuality, and both their oppression and society's fear of integrating with them in the X-Men universe were catalysts that got the world thinking about how we treat those that are different. At the very least, some of the more recent depictions of the X-Men, making the homosexual connection all the more blatant, got the ball rolling for gay rights and painted the issue in a different light for a vast section of the public, resulting in a lot of increased acceptance of homosexuality and various related issues. Given how much of a critical issue LGBTQ issues have become in recent years, I'd say there's definitely good reason to view the X-Men as meeting the criteria for revolutionary and important fictional characters.
