Welcome to our first panel! As I have stated many time, this shoot is designed to give you and us an introduction to your portfolios. This week, we judged based on modelling content, theme connection, how well the picture was executed, as well as how much potential we saw in you, based on your submission, and what we know of your portfolio.
Janice: Tanya, this image is a bit too on the large side for me, try to bring the dimensions down to a maximum of 1000 pixels either side (But keep the proportions in the right way!) That aside, I think you look great in terms of body, but I don't like the fashion personally, nor the lines slicing your body. Your face is also a bit on the lazy side, perhaps due to a lazy eye.
Emilia, I don't think this is the sabotage challenge. The image is a bit too candid for me for this challenge. I'm not liking this at all.
Alice, for me this is the opposite to Tanya. The image is a bit on the small side, and seems to have a quality problem. It's a good picture though.
Morgan: Tanya - I see a pretty lady being cut into a variety of different pieces by some jagged lines. Now usually thats a image that I will conjure up in my mind for pure enjoyment but in this case it doesn't work for me. The separation of the photo into jigsaw pieces distracts me from the main attraction which should be you. And girl, we need some emotion in those eyes not dead eyes.
Emilia - What a big wide mouth you have, so many possibilities... back to judging now! Although this is a nice natural smile the camera angling is doing you no favours. Perhaps a shot from the perspective of where your eyes are looking may have been better.
Alice - You do have a natural beauty thats for sure, I'm intrigued to see your potential. This image hasn't wowed me though.
Hel: Tanya
Oh my, you seem to have been trisected. That's quite unfortunate.
I will rip her into a thousand pieces!
On the positive side, I love your posing and the overall feel of your shot. Just try to keep the overall photo in a reasonable proportion in the future. Thanks
Emilia
WHY IS SHE COSPLAYING AS US?! THAT PSYCHO!!!
Be nice. I'm sure she just forgot to take her medication this morning. It happens to us all. Emilia, I love your necklace and the energy you give us... Even if you do scare me a little bit.
TAKE YOUR MEDS!
Alice
I don't have the same problem with the size that Janice does. If this were a full-body shot or something with a lot going on in it, yeah, it'd be too small. However, with how simple this photo is, the size is fine for me.
This shot is grainier than a bowl of rice!
Yeah, the shot's quality could be better, but through the graininess, I do see a nice level of detail. If the quality comes up, I believe we can see some beautiful shots from you using this art style.
Just get rid of that dopey look on your face.
Janice: Jourdan, those shoes. I am living for those shoes. The pose is everything. And the face, it works, but it's frankly not my favourite. I would've preferred a more intense expression for this particular shoot.
Alicia, it's a beautiful beauty shot, but the smile seems more of an after thought in this case. It would still work without the smile.
Kida, absolutely beautiful. To nitpick, just a few pixels bigger, and it would've been perfect.
Morgan: Jordan - what a long luscious model you are! I can see your potential, your posing seems a bit ametureish to me but this photo does showcase a delightful personality and legs which are both positives in the modelling world.
Alicia - Wonderful fabulous, you look very impressed and interested in yourself in this photo just like I am. I like how the smile isn't overpowering your face, but I do want to see a natural smile - make sure you aren't being too staged.
Kida - Oh the nostalgia! Kida you are looking very cute and au naturale here. I love your big blue eyes and the innocence in your face.
Hel: Jourdan
I love how strong your pose is; you're giving us some great lines. I love how you're styled, too. Can I borrow those shoes? I actually don't see the problem with your face. I think it shows personality. Great start.
Alicia
Your face and posing look forced.
Yeah, you do look a little tense, but I think it's overall a nice photo. The pose itself looks fine enough; I think it's mainly your face that makes everything feel a little off. However, I'm just being nit-picky with that. I do love your styling, once again. I'm stating to think that overall, we can look forward to some great fashion from you.
Kida
I just want to start off by saying that I love your character design. Your blue eyes really pop and I love the white hair fora nice contrast. This shot was drawn really well and there isn't a thing I'd change about it. Great job.
Janice: Alina, I had my doubts about you. I could've find a lot of you for the avatar/memory wall. But I think this is great! There's something off about it, though - The arm. It's been cut off, and just looks a bit strange, just birthing out of your stomach like an Alien movie.
Sheryl, I can see what you mean by super fake, because this looks like it too. It's due to what Tyra would say, not smiling with her eyes. Her eyes just don't have the fire.
Leone, this would be better if you were in centre of the frame, and if the background wasn't in the same colour scheme as you. It makes you blend in.
Morgan: Alina - Well hello! You remind me of a beautiful peacock with those tail feathers, if I were a male peacock I'd be trying my hardest to impress you right now. The fashion is awesome, your body is awesome and I see some androgyny in your face. Be careful that doesn't turn into drag in the competition.
Sheryl - I am distracted by your skin coloured mole at the side of your mouth which isn't a good sign, I'm meant to be focusing on your smile which is not appealing to me. You are a beautiful woman but you need to showcase your beauty more through modelling.
Leone - You have very interesting features, your eyes are quite captivating but as Janice said the colour scheme in the background isn't helping you to be the center of attention.
Hel: Alina
I like the pose and I' not quite sure what Janice is talking about when she said your arm looks cut off.
That's because I haven't gotten to her, yet!
I think it's definitely an interesting shot and as an introduction to you, it serves well. I agree with Morgan that you should keep an eye on your angles cause you can appear to have a masculine face with certain angles.
Sheryl
I'm so happy to see you here, Sheryl, cause all I wanna do is have some fun. I've got a feeling, I'm not the only one.
Oh god, don't sing!
I love how natural your smile feels in this shot. While your eyes may not be beaming, it still feels like a natural smile to me. I do have to agree with Morgan that your mole is a little distracting, but I won't hold that against you since it's a natural part of your body and I've overlooked natural facial features in other seasons.
Leone
I'm actually fine with this being off-center and you matching the background sky. The background could just be because I love that color to begin with, but I don't find you blending into it in a detrimental way. I also think that with such a basic shot, the odd positioning gives us something interesting. I like the way your hair is styled, love your eyes, and I get a sense of emotion coming from you. I don't lack the lack of overall detail when it comes to your mouth, but I realize that is the art style and not something wrong with this particular shot. Overall, good work.
Janice: Sean, great, but a bit on the bland side. Face is fantastic, but everything else is a bit yawn.
Miguel, you are one gorgeous man, but that blue filter brings the picture down. If you have photoshop, just running auto tone and auto colour on it brings it back to life, and makes it look even better.
Squall, a little bit bigger would've done this well. I'm not a fan of the colouring here (though it is beautiful). Your skin and the background are the same, and they kind of blend in.
Morgan: Sean - Well dont you have some very nice chisled and extravagent features, almost makes me jealous, almost. As Janice mentioned the rest of the photo is a lackluster and does not show off your potential.
Miguel - What a nice smile, but the camera angling makes your hair look like a mushroom and the photo quality in general makes this photo look like a screengrab from some sort of cheesy documentary. That's never good.
Squall - A muscular man that I must compete with for the attention of the ladies, I'm not afraid of some man competition. You are certainly making an impression with this photo, I feel like I am getting a sense of your personality but not so much of your natural beauty since the photo is quite artistic your features are not as pronounced as I would like them to be.
Hel: Sean
I love your styling. It's simple, but not boring and it's fashion that I think suits men very well. Your stubble and the way your hair is styled goes perfectly with the outfit. If I had to find a negative, it would be that the pose a little simplistic, but at the same time, male models generally don't get the same freedom for interesting poses that women get. Overall, great first shot; you're just so dreamy.
Stop drooling over him! You're embarrassing us!
Miguel
Oh dear. It appears that someone has hacked Miguel's phone and has released a selfie he had stored on it.
Now they just need to release the good stuff. Free the beast!
Get your mind out of the gutter. Back to the photo, you have great energy and i feel the smile emanating from you, but it feels extremely candid and the quality is poor.
Or it's just a godawful choice of filter on the shot. Step it up!
Squall
While I don't always mind the background matching other colors in the shot, I do agree with Janice that I don't think it works well for you this time. I do find the art style to be interesting and it's nice to see a shot of Squall that feels fresh after the 80,000 CGI shots I've seen of him as a fan of FinalFantasy (even if 8 was a step down after 7).
SPOILER ALERT: They all knew each other from before and just had group amnesia! HOW F***ING STUPID IS THAT?!
Anyway, I like the posing and it feels like a nice first shot. I hope to see you step up your game in future shoots, though.
Janice: Tao, the face, I don't like so much, the rest of it is gorgeous. However, there's a bit too much accessories going on.
Bingbing, beautiful smile, but it does look a bit fake, there's nothing going on in the eyes.
Zelda, beautiful. Nearly flawless. Could stand it be closer cropped to be a proper beauty shot. Coincidentally, Hyrule Warriors Zelda (This one) is my favourite Zelda outfit.
Morgan: Tao - I feel like this is a shot from a catalogue rather than a modelling potential shot. It's nice to know that you can sell clothing and accessories, but I want you to be selling yourself in this photo.
Bingbing - Morgan is going DING DING for BING BING! You are one gorgeous woman, dark and daring. I actually feel like you are bringing some intensity to the photo with your eyes, dark eyes can be hard to make an effect with but you have surely had an effect on me.
Zelda - Stunning, all of your unique facial characteristics are exemplified here and your natural beauty is beaming in this shot.
Hel:Tao
Oh dear, for a studio shot, there sure is a lot going on here. I really like your legs in this shot, but for a modeling potential shoot, you're a bit swallowed up by the over-accessorizing here and I'm not sold on your face.
Bingbing
What a beautiful shot. It's nice and classy. Your smile's beautiful and like Morgan said, I can feel the intensity in your eyes.
Zelda
There was definitely considerable time and effort put in by the artist who made this shot. It's beautiful and makes me want to see more from you right now. If I had to nit-pick, a beauty shot should be a bit tighter on you, but I find myself not caring. Great work.
Janice: Winnie, I am aware of the skin condition - Michael Jackson had it, plus I saw the ANTM stuff. You're going to have to be careful with it though, it can become a bit gimmicky - and we all know that's why Tyra wanted you, the fame hungry bitch. Top up, I like it, including the bottom, that part is weak.
Gaga, a non-candid smiling picture is hard to find, so kudos. That being said, a bit on the fake side. Remember to smile with those eyes.
Ariel, perhaps one of the only proper beauty shots here. However, the colouring I think takes away from the overall atmosphere on the picture - It's a basic beauty shot as asked, but there's a bit too much going on.
Morgan: Winnie - White chocolate, I love it. It never hurts to have a combination! You are one gorgeous lady, however I find your photo to be a bit amature. Your posing looks a bit messy, you've lost a foot and the fashion and background don't help to sell your potential.
Gaga - Although I appreciate the close up of your face to sell the smile, I would have appreciated more of a distant photo because I am intrigued to see what else you are wearing in this photo - I feel like there might be a secret show happening that I haven't been invitied to.
Ariel - Luckily your face is popping out in this photo and therefore your features are popping out as well. I love those eys and that smooth skin of yours, plus that dainty nose
Hel: Winnie
You're like a real life version of me!
That's rude. don't compare her to you. The posing is nice, but I'm not a huge fan of your styling. I get that with that hat, the shoes are meant to be informal, but they feel a bit too bulky. This shot helps me see some potential, but I'm hoping his shot is from one of your earlier shoots.
Gaga
Gaga can have some really harsh facial features, but you've done a great job with these angles. The smile isn't the strongest I've seen, but as Janice said: non-candid smiling photos are tough. I love your styling and think this is a solid start for you.
Ariel
An absolutely stunning shot. I love the shading, I love your hair, I love your eyes.
I love ripping the heart out of my enemies!
Ew, that was graphic. Ignore her. I love this shot. Great work!
Janice: With two members of the panel having used and won with Bingbing Fan in other ORGs, you have your work cut out for you to impress us. Despite her being a celebrity, I allowed her as a model because she has done runway work. That being said, I'm very impressed with this picture of Bingbing. Perhaps one of the best this round.
Rose's picture, I'm not a fan of. Paradoxically, the eyes are great, it's just the smile itself that's the issue. Not really a flattering picture.
Lara, this is absolutely gorgeous though. If the background were plain white, it would've been perfect for me.
Morgan: Bingbing - TWO BING BINGS IN THE ONE COMPETITION? Janice I might need you to invest in some sort of a large hat or cone that I can have beside me during panel for... reasons. Honey you look like you might fall in this photo but no fear because I Morgan will catch you! Be careful with your right arm, its missing length in this photo. But overall I think its great.
Rose - A beautiful face but that smile doesn't look genuine, you look tired like you are at the end of your photoshoot and you just want to get the shoot over with.
Lara - Stunning, you have captured your natural beauty flawlessly. I think you and I need to get to know each other better.
Hel: Bingbing
I'm extremely familiar with Bingbing's portfolio, so while you have a very strong model, it could put you at a bit of a disadvantage since it'll be harder to surprise Janice and me with photos since we know them all so well. That said, I think you made the right choice going with this shot. There's a nice, strong pose. There's interesting styling without taking attention away from you. I love your hair. I could go on.
But don't. We're all tired of your constant yapping!
Rose
Oh dear, do you need some assistance? Are you being held here against your will? Oh, I know! You saw the other Hel and now you're scared! Don't worry, I'll make sure she doesn't hurt you.
I'LL MAKE HER SCREAM!!!
Ignore her. I love your hair in this shot, but unfortunately, your face sucks the energy right out of the photo. I hope to see you bounce back because the other members of your team are strong and I'd hate to see such a strong team brought down by a single weak link.
Lara
And we're back to the positives. I was never a fan of Lara Croft, but you made her feel beautiful in a classy sort of way rather than in the men's magazine way that was her initial introduction to the world. The art style here is lovely, the shading is perfect, and I love the attention to detail.
Janice: Simon, the face is great, but the body is boring. I understand that's male modelling, but it still doesn't change that. I know you have a lot in store for us though.
Channing, not the best smile, I don't like it. The blue filter takes away from it a bit. If you have photoshop, just run auto-colour over it, it makes it much better. Seek out a fansite gallery for him if you can find one. It'll help you.
Angel, this is going to be hard for you. I had trouble finding your avatar and memory wall picture - being a comic panel and a naked picture respectively. Remember to use all your resources - Deviantart is a big one for you - search tags include Angel X-Men and Warren Worthington, also check the collections featuring him. I see you've used the Avengers Alliance image of Angel for this shoot. I am a player of this game, so I know that there's actually a very large image of this picture. If you were to get it, crop it down to just the face, then this would've been a good shot for you. In it's current state, it's so-so
I'll show you what I mean:
We can see your features clearly here, especially your strong bone structure.
Morgan: Simon - I can sense your potential from afar, but thats the problem the photo has such distance that your features are hard to make out. It looks like a test photo where you are standing on set whilst the photographer is preparing the setting.
Channing - I'm a fan of yours and your smile but you haven't shown your best side here. Like a different submission from a different player this looks like a screengrab photo from a movie rather than a photo where you are trying to sell us your smile.
Angel - A photo like the one Janice posted would have allowed us to see your natural beauty in your face which is what we are looking for here. Like Simon the photo you submitted has got me at a distance wondering from afar what kind of potential you hold.
Hel: Simon
Such a handsome man and I love your styling. Unfortunately, I don't like the posing; you look a bit bored.
What?! Am I boring you or something?! I'm not here to entertain you and be a clown! Cut it out or you're in for a world of pain!!!
In any event, I see some potential here, but as a rule of thumb, full body shots, I like to be on the larger side (but within reason; don' want to have to scroll to see all of a shot). Tighter shots can be a bit on the smaller side.
Channing
Seeing all these gorgeous men this season makes me sad I'm single. Oh, why can't I keep a boyfriend?
Because you're ugly and you let people run all over you.
Why are you so mean? Anyway, back to Channing. It's definitely a beautiful smile and feels natural, but unfortunately, it's because it feels like a candid shot someone took of you while you were smiling. Bump up the production quality for us in the future.
Angel
When it comes to height, the picture is a bit too small and as the other judges have already commented, it wasn't tight enough for a beauty shot. I do like the level of detail put into the shot, though. There is potential. It'll just be a matter of whether you can keep up with the learning curve using a tough character like Angel.
Janice: Marlon, you're going a lot more than the other male models in terms of leg work, but the fashion is a problem. Ditch the jacket, ditch the glasses, and this would've been a lot better. As it is now, it looks decent.
Bieber, as much of a douchenugget you look here, it's actually one of the best "smile" pictures this week. On a side note, does Bieber have braces, or is that sparkle on his teeth a cheesy editing effect?
Cap, the image is so small! It's an okay picture, but the art style is not flattering. You look cross eyed. I've won a modelling ORG using Captain America, though, so I can give you a few pointers - on DeviantArt, search using "Captain America" and "Steve Rogers". Also invest in a pixiv account (Basically Japanese deviantart, but more porn), search there using Captain America and スティーブ・ロジャース.
Morgan: Marlon - Where is your shirt? This is a modelling competition with women that do not need to be seeing your torso, I am the only one who should be shirtless here. Although I cannot deny you look like a great model, confident, simple and can make an easy strong impression. I don't like this, I don't need male competition, you better leave your hands off those girls.
Justin - One of the only males in history that can pull off a sweet and innocent smile. This is a picture perfect smile photo.
Captain - I also feel like the art style has detracted your natural beauty instead of exemplifying it. You look old here, although that jawline of yours doesn't seem to have aged.
Hel:Marlon
Oh dear, what happened to your belt? Did the other Hel steal it for some of her sexytime bedroom fun?
C'MON PANTS! DROP LOWER!!!
There is a bit more going on here with the posing than we're going to get from a lot of the male models, so that's definitely a plus. I actually like your jacket, but agree with Janice that those glasses need to go. Overall, a nice introduction, though.
Justin
YOU HAVE A PUNCHABLE FACE!
Personal opinions of Justin Bieber aside, this is a nicely done photo. The smile looks very natural. You have simple, but nice posing, and the accessorizing (minus those gaudy 90's earrings) is nice, too.
Capt America
I like that we get a sense of emotion from the picture, but I have to agree that I on't like the sizing or the art style of this shot. Anything you want to add, other Hel?
Huh? I'm too busy looking at the Captain America porn on pixiv that Janice was talking about!
Janice: Cara, this picture is near perfection. It's just the hands that are a bit of a problem. They're relaxed, but clawlike.
Selena, this picture is flawless. No criticisms or nitpicking from me here.
Snow White, I don't like the blurry overlay. Your expression is soft, and approachable, but the light source, overlay, etc - Technical elements, aren't my favourite.
Morgan: Cara - Damn girl, you can bust a Michael Jackson move for me anyday! Like Janice mentioned, stretch out those fingers! I need to see how handy those hands of yours may be.
Selena - I'm not digging the style, but that smile of yours is a winner.
Snow - Look at those plump red kissable lips! I like this innocent side of you, I find this picture actually really works for me.
Hel:Cara
I think there's an echo in the room cause I agree with the other judges that if your fingers were stretched out, this shot would be perfect. Great posing and I see a ton of potential here.
Selena
I love this shot. You have a great smile and I like your accessorizing. I especially love your retro-inspired hairdo.
Snow White
I think this is overall a beautiful shot with some nice detail. It's standard Snow White styling, but meets the criteria set forth for this round. Janice did touch upon a couple technical issues, but I don't find them to be too distracting.
You look like you have buckteeth.
Ok, so it's not perfect, but it's definitely a nice start.
Janice: Man, where the hell you been?
As far as your model potential picture, it's probably the best submission from a male this round, would've been better in colour, but this is still great.
Celebrity, this is too candid. It's from a photo call from a red carpet event from Cannes.
Flynn - This isn't a beauty shot, and in fact appears to be Flynn's head put on another person's body.
Another note is not to hotlink. Try to upload to tinypic or imgur.
Morgan: Jon - You are looking a bit too washed up and aged in the face in this photo for me, although that body of yours still looks modern and ready for action
Adrian - The photo quality doesn't do justice to that smile and that smile isn't doing justice to yourself. A close up with a natural smile would have saved you/
Flynn - This looks too mismatched for my liking, I'm not seeing your natural beauty. Using Flynn is an interesting choice of character, I think he could have quite a powerful portfolio.
Hel: Jon
Oh, you have a nice, dark style to you.
And you're hot! Come to mama!
Don't scare him off! I do have to say that your posing is the best we've gotten from any of the male models this round and I tend to gravitate more toward dark color schemes than most other people, so a shot like this is more likely to appease me than it will Janice or Morgan.
Just figure out how to please all of us at once.
Adrien
I love the way you're styled and your hair is great. Unfortunately, it's too candid and I don't feel fits the theme as well as others have managed. Too bad...
Flynn
As Janice has already touched upon, this isn't a beauty shot. It needed to be a lot tighter with good emphasis on your facial features. On the bright side, I do like that we get some emotion from your face.
