Hello models. Janice is currently recovering from her botched plastic surgery from last round (that I totally had no part of ), so I will be handling the elimination this round.
Balding Brutes - Men's Magazine
Janice: You may be naked, but there's one very big thing missing in this picture - your sex appeal. No, I'm not talking about your penis, I'm talking in the way it fits with the Men's Magazine theme. Being a male model, I'd expect you to want to appeal to the gay male audience. If we have a look at some gay interest magazines such as DNA magazine or GT magazine, the style is very much different than what is presented here. Then here lies the conundrum. If it isn't men's magazine, what is it? Well, I'm going to say this is not women's magazine either. Granted, it still is very sexy, but I don't think it fits the style I'm looking for.
Noel: Unlike Janice, I could see this as a Men's Magazine shot. Your body language is lustful, to me, and your face has some intensity to it. The face could have held a more lustful emotion, but it's fine enough as it is. This is a nude shot that borders on tasteless, which to me, is what a Men's Magazine shot should be. I think you gave us a solid shot this round. It needed to be amped up a little, but the idea was there and the execution was close.
Morgan: I think what Janice is getting at for this photo (putting it in Morgan terms) is that your butt and penis are not the focus point where you are teasing the viewer. Although you look like a michevious sex cat, without the seductive facial expression I think this photo would be easy to turn into some sort of scary movie creatre which moves in an unhuman manner.
I also don't think this photo entirely fits a mens magazine but its certainly closer to that than a females magazine.
Bomb Squad - Men's Magazine
Janice: When I saw you chose men's magazine, I immediately hoped you wouldn't use Oluchi. Unfortunately, my hopes were let down when I saw this. We have yet to see anything high fashion from Oluchi, and it's very disappointing. You say you wanted to give us something different, but in reality, you've given us something that's aesthetically the same: Round 1: Oluchi scantily clad, Round 3: Oluchi scantily clad. Round 5: Oluchi scantily clad. I would've liked to see you perhaps try something different with Han or even Jafar for this photoshoot. And you reserved early too, which gave you the option to take a women's magazine style picture.
For me, modelling wise, it's average, theme connection is there, but it's extremely boring and extremely predictable. You're also missing an arm, and have a man-hand. Expression looks bored too. Even as Oluchi, there were better options (from the same photoshoot too)
Noel: I'm just happy she's not in another swimsuit. Like Janice, I'm a little disappointed that she's half-naked again, but this is different enough from your other shots with her that it can feel a bit fresher to me. I think the lingerie looks great on you and your posing is almost there for a normal shot, but needs to be a bit more provocative for a Men's Magazine. I'm also mourning the loss of your left arm. At least they've been making better and more stylish prosthetics now-a-days. It's still a solid shot, but needed to be amped up.
Morgan: Like Janice, I too wasn't too impressed seeing Oluchi being used in the same manner as her appearance in previous photoshoots. Morgan likes his ladies in skimpy attire, but this isn't a competition based on Morgan's erect manlihood (despite the changes I have proposed to Janice) so we need to see a model within you. And I don't see a model here. I see a pretty girl who has a rocking body, but I'm not seeing effort or a conscientious attempt to maneuver your body in a way so that all your limbs are showing and to bring more depth into the photo. This photo could be used for either mens or womans magazine, we needed to see something more specialised to the theme you chose.
Coven - Women's Magazine
Janice: Sorry for not being a huge help towards you. This image is a type of sexy that appeals to both women and men, though probably leaning more towards men's interests. However, it is sensual as opposed to raunchy. Classy as opposed to trashy. Overall, I think this fits the brief of women's magazine relatively well. I can see this being a part of a bigger spread in both styles...
Noel: With these shots, I'm looking at them and determining whether I think they're Men's or Women's Magazine before I look to see which style of magazine you chose. I'm happy to say that I was able to correctly identify this shot as a Women's Magazine shot before I checked. You have a provocative pose and styling, but not overly done. There's still a good level of taste to the shot. I agree with Janice that this would be appealing in both types of magazines, but I think it fits much stronger with the Women's Magazine style and it's a good shot.
Morgan: This photo surprisingly tells a story to me, I think a headline such as "Kunis caught in the act with lover's father!" or "Kunis, sick and yet still sexy in bed" would be fitting. I'm on the fence on whether I think this would be suited for mens or womens magazine. The grabbing at your breast, the somewhat shocked look on your face appeals to the mens section and the soft posing appeals to females. I think there could have been a better connection so the link was more solid.
Team Curious - Women's Magazine
Janice: Similar to a team in front of you, I feel this borders in between men's magazine and women's magazine. It could easily be something from GQ, which is a men's magazine, and completely fits that style of that magazine. It's really a grey area here. I think there's one thing that's really bothering me, and that's the eyes. I think either having eyes closed or looking down, or making contact with the lens would have made this picture overall better.
Noel: Ok, I don't know what style of magazine you have off-hand, so I'm going to guess this is Women's Magazine before I go check. Just checked and I was right. I agree with Janice that this borders between the two styles, but I think it's closer to being in the middle than the previous team. Still, it leans more towards Women's, so it works. I guess part of what works is the addition of the necklace. I feel like a Men's Magazine might not have worried about the accessorizing like that. I like that we can still see some nice lines from you even though you're covered by the pillow. I do wish that the shot extended further so we could have gotten all of your legs in the shot. Still, I think this shot works.
Morgan: I also can sense the borderline in your photo. It looks a little pinup with the classic sexy vibe and the nudity. However the soft sensuality does convince me that this photo would be suited for a women's magazine. I enjoy the effective accessioning. Like Noel I would like to see where those legs are heading and like Janice I would want to see you making more of a connection to a women's magazine. Whether that be through changing your eye direction, facial expression or interaction with your setting.
Heart Attack - Women's Magazine
Janice: I don't know. This whole picture's styling just seems to say "men's magazine" to me. I like the lingerie, but at the same time, I feel this is something men want to see as opposed to women. That being said, the eyes have no fire in them. It's very difficult to see any soft sensuality in this for me. If I cut off the head, it's men's magazine. If I leave the head on, it's not really that sexy. That's a problem.
Noel: Yeah, when I saw this photo, I thought you were going for a Men's Magazine here. Then again, that could just be because I feel like Boa has more of a Men's Magazine type of look in general. So, I appreciate that you were trying to show us a different side of her. It was somewhat successful as I do feel this is different from your usual, but it wasn't completely successful since it still feels more Men's than Women's. I also appreciate that in a round where we're showing off a lot of skin, you still gave us a good deal of fashion to look at, too. Slight miscalculation on the magazine style aside, this is actually a really strong shot.
Morgan: This is a remarkable piece of work, but it definitely fits my conception of men's magazine. Your body language is just asking the viewer to take off your lingerie and use their dragon to - I'll stop there. There is a large sexual vibe in the photo with your appearance, the showing of skin, wide blue eyes, it looks like you are bringing your pet dragon in for a kiss of some sort. I really do enjoy this photo in itself, however the theme connection is not high.
Team MAY - Women's Magazine
Janice: Well, thank you for your reasoning. Some women do find jewellery sexy. However, at the same time, women's style also has something a little more soft to it. There is a vulnerability in this picture that I like, but at the same time, I don't like the face. I think you probably understood the theme better than the others in your category...
Noel: This is kind of a mixed bag for me this round. You have done the Women's Magazine well and I like how the parts of the image that would get this reported to Proboards is covered up by her necklace. Your expression isn't my favorite and I would have preferred to have seen this image in a larger size. Still, it's a solid shot and I think you'll do fine this round.
Morgan: First things first, too much cropping I want to see where those legs are going this would give me a holistic image of how soft and feminine your pose is. I do enjoy the jewellery in this photo and the purity that you are representing. Of course I don't like how your necklace is sitting, its covering up the important parts of the photo for me. In accordance with the other judges your face doesn't appeal to me, it makes you look uncomfortable or unprepared for the photoshoot.
Team Pisces - Men's Magazine
Janice: There is a sensuality here, but it's probably the best men's magazine submission thematically. It has sex appeal, but it's subdued. In this case, that's not entirely a good thing. Cut off the left end, we have something very men's magazine. Cut off the right end, we have something very women's magazine. Coming all together, we have... You know, I don't even know. This shoot was a disaster.
Noel: This was very clearly a Men's Magazine, so you have the theme down well. I've love that while the back of you is out of focus (due to being in a different layer of the photo), we still got to see all of you here, while hiding the few parts that would get this forum shut down by Proboards. You have a great expression, great styling, great body language, and a great setting. I don't have anything negative to say here.
Morgan: Argh another confusing photo with a chosen theme. I see women's magazine here, I see sensuality, a confidence in your body and I see you promoting that to others. The most sexy or raunchy aspects of this photo to me would be the clenching of your mouth and the sweeping of your hair. But other than that I don't see an extreme connection to a men's magazine so much more for a women's. And for a women's magazine shot, I would enjoy it. I think you are representing healthy qualities for women.
Team TestosterOWNED - Men's Magazine
Janice: Women's magazine? No, that's not right. First and foremost, this is not something I'd find in a men's magazine. For me, if I saw this in a gay interest magazine, I'd think it'd be very awkward. If I saw this in a women's magazine, I'd think it was awkward. This picture reads more of a "Getting naked before jerking off for cash for an internet porn website" picture. Though a sense of humour is sexy. There's a place for it, and it's not in pictures.
Noel: This does remind me of the type of fantasy shoots you'd see from Playboy from time to time, so you have the Men's Magazine down. I do think the crassness of it could have been amped up a bit more, but it's still fitting. Also, I love me a half-naked Jason Stackhouse, so there's that. This is a shoot where it's going to be a bit difficult to still give us some fashion, but we are getting some from you here.
Morgan: Gay fairy godmother? I think this fits more of a themed men's magazine edition, rather than a typical photo that you would see in the magazine. Your body is hot and that alone is what you would want to see in a men's magazine. However the attire you have on isn't executed to the best of its ability. I feel like you aren't committing to what you are wearing, and you look uncomfortable in your expression. This photo may not typically work for a men's magazine, however with more effort I think you could make it work.
