Photoshoot Two: Elements - East versus West
Featured Models: Emma Frost portraying Aether Description: I had a different shoot planned, but we have 10 people, so I swapped them. For this photoshoot, you are required to choose one element from East or West and portray that element as that culture describes it. However, only one team may choose an element. A description is not needed for this shoot, but we do encourage one to help us judges understand. Just to make it more interesting. The teams who score lowest in each side will be up for elimination. The elements are Eastern:Earth - Fire - Water - Wood - Metal - Western:Earth - Fire - Water - Wind - Aether - Reserve your elements here. Deadline: Friday December 6th, 12AM Good luck!

Not sure I get this one. Could we get some examples of how west and east portray elements differently? Does it come down to just styling or is there more to it? Is Emma east or west in the example you posted?

The best I can do is the wikipedia links or a quick google search. The best thing I can say for this photoshoot is just a little bit of research because the elements mean different things in different cultures. For example. In Eastern elements (Or Wu Xing), Water is associated with intelligence and wisdom (Which is why Sailor Mercury (or Suisei/Water Star) is the smart one), whereas in Western elements, water is associated with emotions and intuition. You can take this approach, or a literal approach, or both. And Emma Frost is portraying the Western element of Aether in a literal sense. In that Aether is essentially just outer space. More examples: This is representing the Eastern element of Earth in a symbolic way. Eastern Earth is about balance and harmony. This is representing Eastern metal in both a symbolic and literal way. Literal in the metalic styling and background. Metal is also related to lightning, and autumn which are present in the outfit motifs.

I hope I'm not going to see Tyson on a boat again. There goes my Aquatic Tyson themed game strategy. Thanks Janice.

Just to clarify...do we use all 3 again, or just pick one?
